As a Canadian you need a visa to travel in China, the application form could be found on the website of embassy of China in Canada. you're required to take passport sized color photo within 6 months prior to your application date. you'll need to submit items listed below
1> your original passport ( valid for at least 6 months when you apply)
2> your photo (1 copy)
3> your application form (typed and printed, only signature is hand-written)
4> your travel itinerary
5> your air tickets
B: Living standard
1> electricity voltage is 220V/380V, you need a adopter for your electronics. most hotels provide adopters.
2> tap water is not potable, so we provide bottled water everyday for your drinking needs.
3> public washroom does not provide toilet paper for free. sit-on toilet is available in washrooms at most attractions.
4> hair dryer is provided in the hotel room.
5> WIFI internet access is free at lobby for most hotels, internet access in room is available with extra fees.

As a Canadian passport holder, you do not need a visa to enter Japan. when enter Japan, a fingerprint and a facial photograph will be taken at immigration control.
